In the theme of the earlier Powertrol & Powerlift question. What years was the 1st factory connection for a external hydraulic cylinder/ram for the A,B,G,H and Dubuque tractors?

I have original sales brochures that talk about the "new Powr-Trol" and they are dated in 1945. But very often these brochures were prepared in advance of a new products introduction. I have seen the date listed in different publications but I am thinking it was released to the general public in very late '45 or early '46 in the '46 model year. Mike

I don't know for sure either, but I'm thinking the first factory installed would probably have been on the new style A, B, and G tractors that came out in 1947. I've got a factory cylinder for the late styled B. I'd be interested to see if anyone has the info on that!

I know for absolute certain that they had them in 1950 because my Uncle's late JD A had a remote JD hydraulic cylinder that you could detach from the JD No. 5 mower and hang it on the tractor on that special bracket that even our 1952 JD A has clamped to the rockshaft. They made it so that it was more convenient and less mess to take the cylinder off of the implement and swing it around, hoses and all and hang it on the tractor than it was to disconnect the hoses, that plus you used the cylinder on a lot of different implements. The tractor and the remote cylinder were a "system". We didn't have Power-trol on our early AW when I was a kid, and it was a while before I knew what the little bracket on this 1952 A we just got was for until just recently an older JD guy told me. He said you had a choice when it came to going in for lunch: either you could have pinched fingers from dismounting the cylinder or oil mess from disconnecting the plug-in hoses.

That can be a loaded question. 45 was the earliest for powertrol and you could hook remotes to that BUT. They made a baker valve for powerlift that would allow the use of remotes and any position of the rockshaft you wanted. I do not no what year that valve became available nor do i know about dubuque tractors

According to my reference the Dubuque wheel tractors had a remote cylinder option available starting in December 1954.

Looks like I should find the JD two cylinder parts CD from where ever the kids have hidden it. And then search through the serial number breaks for the addition of hydraulics. Collectors around here have mostly numbered series tractors around here and always have hydraulics or D's that never did.
