My 1520 was partially submerged during recent flooding. I'm not sure exactly how high the water got or how long it stayed under, but it doesn't appear to have risen much higher than the top of the transmission.

There's definitely water in the crankcase and transmission. Any recommendations on other things to do/check/change?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bryant

Here you go, right from Mother Deere. Instructions and recommendations on putting submerged tractors back into service. It pretty much applies to every tractor Deere has built from the New Generation on up:

PROBLEM: WATER DAMAGE CAUSING RUST AND DIRT OR SILT CONTAMINATION.

SOLUTION: THE PROCEDURES LISTED BELOW SHOULD BE CONSIDERED WHERE POSSIBLE.

1. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START TRACTOR AS WATER IN THE CYLINDER(S) WILL

CAUSE HYDRAULIC LOCK WHICH MAY RESULT IN MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE. ALSO,

CONTAMINATED OIL WILL BE CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE HYDRAULIC AND

TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS. IF THE TRACTOR MUST BE MOVED TO PERFORM A

CLEANUP, PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN TOW AND HAUL BY TRUCK.

2. THE ENGINE SHOULD BE COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED, INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE

AND THOROUGHLY CLEANED. TRACTOR WORKS SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN

R79-20-11 SHOULD BE REFERENCED FOR CLEANING PROCEDURES. OIL COOLERS,

INTERCOOLERS, ROCKER ARMS AND SHAFTS, TURBO CHARGERS AND INJECTION

PUMPS ARE ASSEMBLIES ON WHICH ADDITIONAL CLEANING EFFORTS NEED TO BE

APPLIED IN ORDER TO ASSURE FUTURE RELIABILITY. ANY PARTS WHICH

EXHIBIT RUST MUST BE REPLACED. ALL SEALS, GASKETS, ETC., MUST BE

REPLACED.

3. DRAIN THE TRANSMISSION CASE, CLUTCH HOUSING, FINAL DRIVES, AND FRONT

AXLE COMPARTMENTS WHERE APPLICABLE. FLUSH TRANSMISSION WITH PROCE-

DURE OUTLINED IN THE TECHNICAL MANUAL UNDER HYDRAULIC REPAIR, USING

AN OIL TRANSFER PUMP. REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION PUMP INLET SCREEN TO

FACILITATE REMOVAL OF DEBRIS. DO NOT REUSE OIL DRAINED FROM COMPART-

MENTS. WHEN COMPARTMENTS ARE DRAINED, FLUSH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND

REFILL WITH CLEAN OIL. IF COMPARTMENTS ARE DRAINED AND LEFT EMPTY,

RUST AND CORROSION WILL FORM. AFTER FLUSHING, CIRCULATE HOT AIR

THROUGHOUT CASE IF POSSIBLE, TRY TO DRY ANY MOISTURE REMAINING ON

COMPONENTS.

4. REMOVE ANY DRAIN LINES TO THE TRANSMISSION SUMP TO SEE IF WATER IS

PRESENT (SUCH AS DRAIN FROM MAIN HYDRAULIC PUMP, SELECTIVE CONTROL

VALVES, ETC.). IF WATER IS PRESENT, THE COMPONENT SHOULD BE DIS-

ASSEMBLED AND THOROUGHLY CLEANED.

5. DRAIN AND FLUSH THE FUEL TANK. DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE REFILLING.

6. REPLACE ALL HYDRAULIC, FUEL AND AIR FILTERS. LUBE ALL GREASE ZERKS

SUFFICIENTLY TO FLUSH WATER AND DEBRIS. REPACK FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS

ON 2WD TRACTORS. IF APPLICABLE, INSTALL GREASE FITTINGS AND

LUBE TO FLUSH WATER AND DEBRIS FROM AXLE OUTER BEARINGS.

7. CLEAN EXTERNAL DEBRIS FROM RADIATOR, OIL COOLER, CONDENSOR, EXHAUST

SYSTEM, INTAKE SYSTEM AND FROM ALL EXTERNAL CONTROL LINKAGES, ETC.

8. FLUSH THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR CLUTCH WITH CLEAN WATER.

9. ON MOST MODELS WITH SOUND GARD BODY, THE BLOWER MOTOR, RIGHT

RIGHT WIPER MOTOR AND AIR CONDITIONER TEMPERATURE CONTROL

WILL FILL WITH WATER WHEN SUBMERGED AND WILL PROBABLY EX-

PERIENCE EARLY FAILURE. THE LEFT HAND WIPER MOTOR IS SEALED AND

SHOULD BE OKAY.

10. CLEAN AND REPLACE FRESH AIR FILTER.

11. DRY THE RADIO, SPEAKERS AND SWITCHES/CONTROLS INSIDE THE CAB

WITH HOT AIR.

12. DISCONNECT ALL SEALED ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AND CLEAN AND DRY IF

WATER IS PRESENT.

13. REMOVE ALL ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS; CCU, HCU, ETC.

DISASSEMBLE UNITS AND CLEAN AND DRY IF WATER IS PRESENT.

DRY THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS WITH HOT AIR.

14. RINSE THE ALTERNATOR WITH CLEAN WATER. WHEN TRACTOR CAN BE STARTED,

OBSERVE THE VOLTMETER FOR CHARGE. IF CHARGE IF LOW, REMOVE SLIP

RINGS AND BRUSHES AND CLEAN. IF BATTERY LEVEL IS OVERFILLED, DRAIN

TO FULL LEVEL AND CHARGE AT LOW RATE. IF SPECIFICS GRAVITY IS LESS

THAN 1.25, DUMP THE BATTERY FLUID AND REFILL WITH DRY CHARGE FILL.

15. WHEN THE TRACTOR HAS BEEN REASSEMBLED AND CAN BE STARTED, FINISH THE

HYDRAULIC CLEANUP PROCEDURE AS OUTLINED IN THE TECHNICAL MANUAL.

RUN TRACTOR AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE FOR EXTENDED PERIOD TO EVAPOR-

ATE ANY REMAINING MOISTURE.

I cant seem to think of much more than the obvious fluid/filter change. I would probably run it for a continious hour first thing and do the fluid filter again. That would hopefully reduce the moisture in the oils which is more damaging longterm that actual water droplets.
