I am putting my engine back together, can't find a torque spec.on block to crank case.I do have the head to block torque spec.,witch depends on the block studs, whether they are hardened or not.I did notice back a bit that Morgan was wondering about changing the block gasket,it got around to torquage,no figures came up.This year A is prone to having problems with cracking if the block isn't torqued propperly----any info would be great. thanks Jim.

Well Jim, I guess we'll just have to use the "one
grunt-2 grunt" method. No not really! I think I read here some where that it was 167 lbs. but I am not sure, Maybe some body will jump in and tell us for sure. morgan

Morgan----- assuming that the head is torqued at 150.the block bolts should be about the same----.I am still searching for true J.D. specs.----Some where in my shop I have some older shop manuals that tell torque specs, for the bolt hardness and size of bolts,I think i'll have to hunt them down and see how close 150ft.lbs. will be.I do hope there is somebody out there that knows the actual torque spec. By the way,how did you make out on the block gasket?-----thanks jim

I had to iron the gasket because Deere stored the gasket set on it's edge and the block gasket had taken a curl , so I hope it works,it came out pretty flat after I iron it. morgan
