Looking for suggestions as to where some excessive smoke could be coming from. Some facts are , its 4 years old, has only 100 hours on it, 30hp diesel. Its never been serviced except to change oil, filters every 30 hrs. It seems to be producing excessive smoke and it has never done this before. Also, when cold starting the smoke has a white
color to it. Maybe this is normal, I'm not too big into tractor knowledge. But the tractor still runs fine. I'm just wondering if there is something starting to happen that
needs attention...Thanks for any advice...Joe

I also own a John Deere 790 compact, and the smoke is probably coming from the points

Drain the fuel tank and fill with fresh. Get it up to full operating temperature and work it hard continously for at least on complete tank of fuel. If the smoking still occurs pull the injectors and get them serviced before they ruin the engine with raw fuel dribbles.

Joe The black smoke may be caused by over loading the engine (working it to hard) or may need the air filter changed. The tractor has a inner and outer filter. change both.
If this dosent help post again and we try some other options.

Thanks, I've only blown out the filters with an air compressor and yes, I know this isnt the proper way to service filters. I'll purchase new ones this weekend and see what happens...Regards
