This is the bolt that takes all the load from my swinging drawbar. It was very loose, so i took the two main bolts out, VERY TIGHT, and this is what i found. Ive never seen a bolt this worn....

We used to pull IH Model 55W balers with our JD A's and that's what the WHOLE HITCH assembly looked like from that heavy engine-driven baler slamming back and forth constantly. We finally got smart and built special "baler hitches" that hooked to the axles. Our biggest trouble was having the bolts that threaded into the belly of the tractor loosen and wear out the threads. There's nothing quite like having the implement come loose and then destroy the hydraulics when the hoses stretched and broke the fittings or worse....

You found that one in the nick of time. How much damage did you prevent by catching that before it broke?

Well, i plow sometimes, but mostly i pull my 20' double axle trailer from the back yard to my house, i live on a hill, so if it broke, the trailer would go very fast down the hill and probably hit the truck parked down there! and sometimes down the road a bit. Im glad i spotted that this soon!
