Building a 42 John Deere-B for tractorpulling. Was wondering how far I can safely bore the powerblock for maximum cubic inches? Stroking the crank will come later. And what kind of horsepower can I expect from just the maximum bore of the powerblock and high compression aluminum pistons. How far can I stroke the crank without having to move the camshaft, notching the cam is OK. And what kind of horsepower can I expect from both boring and stroking. Thanks

Remember that the power block has probably about a 1/2" larger bore...and you will be trying to run it at higher than stock RPM..... You are going to have to find a way for the engine to Breath More air/fuel than the percent of increase in Cubic Inches, for it to make it's best power at full throttle... A larger Carb will help....but you will need port work and GOOD High Performance Valve work... A better cam, too..... Lower profile tires may slow that fast 1st gear... Good Luck...!!!
