I have a McKee snowblower that attaches to the front of a John deere 4020, or 3020. It has a large gear box that mounts under the engine and runs on the front PTO shaft. I was wondering if anyone knows a source of parts, or if the company is still in business. Nothing is broke right now, but the gear box does have a bad leak, and i would like to know where I could get parts if it needs them once i get in there and see how everything looks when i replace the gsaket. I have a feeling something might be bad seeing how it was bought new in the early 70s by may father and used almost every winther since then and never had anything done to it.

Joe, it sounds like your snowblower may be the same as the Deere model 275 with the front drive bundle. Check with your local dealer. Good luck!

Hello to Joe; The bad news Joe is that McKee went out of business a number of years back and I am not sure if any of their products were assumed by anyone else. I do know they made a good blower with many of them still in use around here (south/central Ontario) If there is good news to be had it's this I would think that like many short line companies this gear box was likely outsourced to a company that just did gear boxes etc. and that the parts are fairly common. I would have a close look at the seal if you can and try to get a number off of it,take it to a bearing/seal shop and see what they say. If you can't do that without a teardown,I would wait till the end of the season to lay the machine up just in case. Just keep an eye on the oil level if it is leaking. lol, Bob

If the gear box was made by another company you may find a ID tag with name and model number on it if you are lucky.
