i bought a set of wheels from a "gentleman" in minnesota who advertized a set of wheels off a john deere model G. after several email inquiries, i was assured the wheels were off a 1937, which is the set i wanted. the offset on these wheels is specific. actually the whole wheel is specific to this model tractor. after i sent the check, the wheels arrived and they were wrong. imagine that. after checking the wheels over, a part number was discovered stamped into the rim which, when traced through my JD dealer, came back to a part belonging on a later model A or B, 50/60, a 520/620, 530/630. when i inquired about the mixup to the seller, i was told they would fit my tractor and i got what i paid for. i was refused a refund. incidently, the wheels i got can be bought from Miller's for about $35 each and come painted, not rusted with chipped paint and cow poop on them. the point here is i wanted a specific wheel and i was sold something that i was told would fit. i wanted original equipment, not an aftermarket rim. another of the "gentleman's" responses was that the wheels came off a G. (he declined to say what year but i suspect it was a later G with a roll-o-matic front end.) if i install the wheels the man sent me on my 37 G, the tires will rub at the base using the correct G hub which i have. i just wanted to post this situation and message so all you good folks out there don't get ripped off like i did and remind all to be careful when dealing with some of these parts guys. make sure you ask lots of questions and i guess if you can provide the part number or pictures of the part you want, that would be helpful. this still is the greatest hobby despite a few bad apples out there.
