Don't mess with the small chargers. They will do more harm than good and are just a waste of time and money. Build one from the John Rex plans or larger to get the needed saturation on the later style magnets. Good commercial units were made by Joseph Weiedenhoff Co., H.G. Makelim, and American Bosch. I have a extra Weidenhoff 110V charger but it is one of the small ones. A company in Houston was building them again but they were out of most of you guys price range: $3000+.

Jeff,
Several people have built a "super" magnet charger from plans provided by John Rex in Gas Engine Magazine several years ago, and they do a great job but they are pretty heavy-duty. They will saturate about any type of magnetic material. I could dig them out if they would be of interest to you. Whatever you do, don't fiddle around with an undersized unit - they won't get it done.

I haven't seen Dave Gingery's plans but he has some neat stuff.

~If you want to E-Mail me I have some links I could share with you.. I think most are still good but it was a while ago...
