Just bought a used backhoe (JD 510C)for home/farm use. It needs new batteries. Any info good or bad on brands would be appreciated.

They have to be HD agricultural, industrial or highway tractor batteries that are vibration resistant. And with the max CCA that will cram into the battery box.

I use John Deere Strong Box batteries in my 410B and they work great and last a long time with proper battery maintenance

They won't be the cheapest ones you can find, but John Deere Strongbox batteries are excellent units and have a good warranty behind them. We have excellent luck with them, and it's not uncommon to see four or five year old batteries still working well in farm tractors. The number one issue with any battery is maintenance. Keep them clean, full of water and adequately charged when the machine isn't being used. In my experience, money spent on quality batteries is money well spent. You can buy cheap batteries, but that's exactly what you're going to get.
