Hey guys,
Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know the H is in progress. I'm in the disassembly stages and am cleaning priming and painting parts as I go. Found several things missing on it. I am amazed at the ease of alot of the fastners are coming off. I know it has sit for at least 25 years or more. Found some nice honeycombs in the transmission when I took the top cover off, glad the bees were dead. Anyhow, its coming along slowly. I have some pics of it and I'll scan one and post it for ya. I'll also get some of it when I get it done and you can see how she looks then. I'll be asking many questions as the main work starts a little later on. I'm no amatuer mechanic but I have not completely tore a tractor down before either. Thanks in advance and thanks to all I have talked with so far.
Gary

third party image

I saw eveyones posts on their H's and I felt compelled to put a picture of mine up and say I too am working hard to get mine running and then to restore it fully. As you can see in the picture head is off and needs attention as well as the carb etc. Got a loose cam bearing so I am going deeper into the unknown!!! But I will keep updating my progress as well. It seems like everything I touch needs work that I did not find on my inital inspection, but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles or the way the wallet shrinks!!!!

Hey Denny,
Thats a nice looking H you got there, even with the work you say thats ahead. I wish mine had that good of paint job on it now but I am in the process of working on the hood and have several parts sanded primed and painted. They are looking good. Hope yours comes along well too. Holler at me sometime.

Hi Gary, I thought you were working on a tractor. Sounds more like a bee hive to me. Somehow I don't think gear lube would make the honey taste better. LOL You find the darndest things in these old machines. I had a mouse nest in the bottom tank of my radiator. The head was full of mud dauber nests too. Knock on wood, I haven't twisted off any bolts on my 39 H either. I've been using lots of PB Blaster on them before I try to take them out.
Good luck with the H. Souds like you're having fun.
Catch ya' later

I was taking the radiator off of my truck this past year and after pulling it out I thought I had better clean out those leaves down in the bottom of the support. Leaves, yea right. I had a dead bat in there. Funny I never knew I was driving the Batmobile :o). So far the H has been fun and the Farmall B I'm working on too, but the H has seen more activity. I'll get that before picture scanned sometime today and post it.

I am also working on an H. Mine is a 1940. Sheet metal is off. Exhaust pipe and upper water pipe are off. Next is the governor and fan. No big suprizes so far. The top water pipe is rotted out and the gas tank support is broken at its mounting holes. The only things I've found missing is the clamp on the swinging drawbar and the spark plug covers.

I anticipate this being a long process, but my 8 year old and I are enjoying every minute! I got a digital camera for Christmas so I'll try to figure out how to post pictures one of these days.

Hi Mike,
Keep in touch, we may be able to help each other through all of this. Mine is looking pretty good so far, got the dash panel cleaned up and primed and painted and am working on the hood. Going to take alot in the trans. area though!!!
Looking forward to hearing that two cylinder running, along with my dads 41 model B
