I'm looking for a 2-row cultivator for my 60 to cultivate my sweet corn this summer. From what I can tell the #200 would be a good choice. Is my understanding correct that the #200 was raised and lowered by "lifting pipes" that connected to the rockshaft? Any tips I should look for when searching salvage yards, auctions, etc. for a #200?
Did Deere ever offer any kind of 2 row cultivator that would work behind the tractor using a 3 point hitch?
How about any aftermarket companies that offer a 2-row setup that would work with a 3-point?

Alberto! With a little looking around you should be able to find an RG-4 3pt four row cultivator that would work great on a 3pt. A little work with a blue tip wrench and it's down to a two row. The RG-4 (or any other older 4 row) go begging in the midwest... No one wants them anymore. The front mount is more... correct, but a pain to attach/remove.

My two cents...

Sounds like a good idea, Doc. I also found a salvage yard that is wiling to "cut down" a 4-row rotary hoe to a 2-row configuration that would mount to a 3-point hitch.
For keeping the weeds down in my sweet corn would a rotary hoe and a cultivator do about the same job?

To give a basic answer to your basic question, yes the No. 200 is right for a narrow-front 60. The No. 220 is appropriate for a wide-front.

I don't find any info on three-point cultivators for the 60 in my old literature file.

We are in north centeral missouri. We have a nice quick-tatch culivator. We would need your frame width measurement to make sure that its the right one. We also have four other older side mount coulivators.

I know this isn't the place to ask, but sometimes someone has or knows someone that has one of these they might sell that otherwise wouldn't check the classifieds. If anyone does know where I can find a good used 6-row qwik-tatch please let me know, I'll need it this spring..(if we get rain!)

I know where one is if you are willing to go to Pennslyvania. There's a guy who has a salvage yard at the intersection of Rt 30 and 15. I saw one there last november. I can guarantee it's still there too.

Alberto, Where are you from? I might be able to help you if you live close to Pennslyvania.

I have used the JD cultivators extensively in tobacco. You can mount about any rear mount plow to your 3-pt. and work with some adjustments, depending on row width and wheel tread. I like the original front mounts because they allow you to see what you are plowing and do an excellent job. Again, row width is crucial, your rear wheels have a limited spread.
