Ok guys- power-block are out there, where do you get parts for them? Or are ring and pistons custom made out of unuptainamodium?
I got a power-block for a 50 in the shop that needs a piston fixed and a set of rings. Dad

Going from 190 cubic inches to 216 cu is only an 13.7% increase in displacement. Airflow/HP will not be 13.7% greater at rated rpm. Even if volumetric efficiency stayed at stock level she would gain a whole 18.53x.137 = 2.5HP . More power than that is available going to a cold gasoline manifold, high compression gas pistons and a low restriction airfilter. This and some port and valve work might get the "B" almost up a bone stock 520/530's output.

So much for tractorpulling with this tractor this summer, a 2.5HP gain is not going to get the job done, I was hoping for a little more of a gain than that. I will do the crank next winter as finances won't allow this winter, and will bore block at that time to maximum size also. I have the cold manifold, and am going to use the paper filter system in place of the oil bathe. I also plan on doing the head and manifold porting along with valve work. I don't want to put in high compression piston now because when I stroke the crank I will have to buy pistons again. I wanted to run the tractor this year in the 2-3MPH, 3000# thru 4000# classes. I am shooting for the 4-5 MPH class in the 3000-3500# after the crank is done, and 3750-4500# in the 2-3MPH classes.

If the compression has been boosted by the origional style power block pistons she may have gained 3-1/2 to 5 HP with the swap.Along with the manifold and airfilter she may do well enough as is.

Not to rain on your parade but, I will talk some fact not fiction. I have been pulling "B" John Deere's with Power-Blocks for a long time. The most that you might see from one with just a Power-Block at "Stock" RPM is about 28 to 32 HP. To get anywhere near 40 HP with the block alone you would have to spin the thing twice its rated RPM. If you did get it there with the increased RPM you would still have to pull it in creeper low to hold its power as it still would not have the torque that you really need. The next question is, Who in there right mind would allow that kind of RPM on a two banger John Deere? Don't care how much "Tweaking" or polishing you want to do you won't get there (40 HP) with a "stock" Power-Block alone. This kind of power is achievable but it will take more than just increasing the bore and compression. I got "B's" that will blow the horn in the 4 MPH class and do fairly well but they also have allot more done to them than a Power-Block. The important thing to consider when building any pulling tractor is to decide what kind of class you are going to run it in and then build your tractor for the application / class. Once you put the Power-Block in allot of rules will not allow you to run in the so called "Stock" classes. So if you are building for that kind of program keep it stock looking on the outside and build accordingly on the inside!! Good Luck, Have fun, Dave W.

Hey, sorry to cut in. What is a "powerblock" some rare factory option?, or a pulling mod? I've heard of this term with an "A" before.

Thanks

After market jobber overbore casting and high compression pistons sold by TSC. Kind of tinked off Deere & Co. Highly sought after by pullers. Airflow improvments, compression, stroking and a powerblock will make serious extra HP. B&50 5-1,5-2,5-3. A&60 6-1,6-2,6-3. G & 70gas/AF 7-1 & 7-2's were made.

I'd say if you tweak just right you might approach 40 H.P.
