I checked the crankcase oil today and found that it was milky white/gray. It was fine the last time I checked it. I have antifreeze good to -34F in it so I don't think the cold has cracked the block. We got to -16F last week. I am thinking that maybe the head gasket has gone south. Any other possibilities. Thanks.

John, Do you have an increase in oil level on the dip stick. That may tell you if you have a leak or condensation.
Where in Ne. I used to help my uncle and grandparents on there farm north of Bassett.

Thanks for the reply Chuck. I forgot to mention that the level on the dipstick stayed about the same. I fill to the full line and that is where it was. Guess there couldn't be too much water in there, unless I had lost some oil. It hasn't used any oil in previous checks. It sure looked cruddy though. I changed the oil and know where the coolant level should be so I can keep an eye on it.

I live in Hastings now. I grew up on a farm west of Creighton, which is straight east of Bassett. My folks still have the farm and dad has restored an MT and a B. He also has an A, 2010, and 3010.

Another possiblity is condensation. When was the last time the oil was changed? Is it possible that condensation could have built up during that time? If you are not loosing any coolant then this suggests another source of water.

-16 degrees F? Here I was thinking I was cold in NC when it got down to 7 or 8 degrees.

John

The oil was changed this fall. It seems like quite a bit of moisture for condensation only. Although it is hard to tell how much water is really in there. The water level in the radiator seems to be a bit lower than before, however, I am not sure exactly where the level was before. I will keep track of it now.

I'm out in Nebraska. 7 or 8 degrees. Short sleeve weather eh?
