Could anyone tell me the average value of a 47 D with good sheet metal and runs ok.Has been painted but since wetsanded. The only thing that has to be done is weld the bottom radiator pan,Which I beleive is cast iron, it has a big piece broken off..which brings me to wy next question should I use a mig,tig or arc welder, I have access to all 3..Thank you for any information..

In Pa. a styled D sells for around $2500 in good running condition. I know in the mid-west these tractors line the fence rows and bring little at auction. As for the radiator, I would use an arc with a nickle based rod. Be sure to pre-heat the tank and allow it to cool slowly after the repair. I'm sure there are some welding pro's on the John Deere board that will be able to give you more precise instructions then I can. Instead of repairing the broken tank, You may be able to locate a replacement tank by posting a "Wanted" ad on the YT classified section. Good luck with your D.

What a styled D is worth depends on your location. Out here in the wheat plains, they are not worth very much. Saw one that had been overhauled go for $500. Reason why I didn't bid on it is because we already have 5 that were given to us.
