I was wondering if anybody has ever made a set of doughnut rings for a 36 A block.I was thinking of using some heavy pipe and have it turned down to fit up against the ridge .If i drill a hole in the pipe for the plug is there a long shank plug to keep it from turing.Any thoughts ,thanks.

36A, I'm not sure why you want to make a set as you shouldn't have a hard time finding some by calling a few tractor scrap yards. They used to show up occasionally in some of the old all-fuel tractors that were only used on gasoline. I'm not sure they add much horsepower but they did make the hand starts harder to crank over. ~There were a few different manufactures but the only one I seem to remember is Hollingsworth Hi-Compression or something like that. They were held from turning by screwing an insert into the plug hole. If a longer spark plug is used it will be very hard to remove at a later time due to carbon & possibly flattened threads due to contacting the ring notch. If you do use longer spark plugs chuck them in a lathe & remove the threads from the part that sticks in the combustion chamber to hold the compression rings from turning.
