I JUST PURCHASED A NEW 64HP 5303, HAD IT A WEEK AND THINK IT'S GREAT. MY DEALER HAS SOLD A BUNCH OF THIS NEW SERIES AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY. I AM GOOD FRIENDS WITH THE PEOPLE THAT OWN THE DEALERSHIP, AND I AM CONVINCED THEY WOULD NOT SELL SOMETHING TO ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TROUBLE WITH. I PUT UP ABOUT 600 ROUND AND 1000 SGUARE BALES A YEAR, AND PLAN TO USE THIS TRACTOR AND LOADER TO RUN A HAYBINE, DISC MOWER, AND SGUARE BALER, ALONG WITH MOVING AND LOADING THE ROUND BALES. THE TRACTOR TURNS ON A DIME , HAS A GREAT RESPONSIVE ENGINE, AND QUICK HYDRAULICS. NOT ALL OF US GROW CROPS,AND FARM LARGE ACREAGES, SO WE DO NOT NEED THE BIG HORSES. IT IS GREATLY UNFAIR TO COMPARE THESE TRACTORS TO A 1010 OR 2010. I'VE OWNED A 2010 AND IT'S LIKE COMPARING APPLES AND ORANGES.

We purchased our 5303 in Aug 2003 equipped with a front end loader and no problems until today. Temp was 0 degrees this morning and tractor won,t start. We have had heater plugged in for over a hour. We don,t want to use Starting fluid and were told by dealer in Aug not to blend kero with fuel. Anybody got any suggestions???Its been a great machine other than cold weather starting. While the latest 5000 series JD's are much improved from the early versions. They are best used for granny jobs like mowing grass on golf courses. Last time JD dropped the ball and sold turkeys they replaced the 1010 diesel and all 2010's pronto. Deere would have kept market share by just saying sorry and putting the new emissions engines in the excellent Mannheim Germany built 2155/2355/2555/2755 etc tractors and calling then the 5000 & 6000 series. The 6003/6015 ecno tractors maybe worth a look instead.
