Steam Tractor Hunting,South American Way.
By Diana Rona.

Not all are succes stories, like this one shows, sometimes a failure can have its merrit. But all the same one has fun following the long winding road for the next find.

On a cold and foggy winter morning Bob, (Roberto Dario Frassinetti) pushed us to an amazing adventure.

Nevertheless we had time for a short breakfast in our "Cottage in the Woods".The cottage is in a pine wood deep in the heart of Valeria del Mar,on the Atlantic coast of south America,Argentina.

Then we took the road to Madariga, a small town close to the chick beach resort of Pinamar, province of Buenos Aires .

Madariaga is an old little village inhabited by rich and not so rich farmers.

On the way we decided to start hunting for those steam engine tractors we were looking for.

Turning left some 6 miles out of Pinamar. We headed to a salty water lake called "Laguna Salada Chica".Where we had been tolled that there was or be could be some to see.

We arrived and we got down out of our muddy car to see the first of them :a beautiful iron-beast, fantastically abandoned and ruined for ever. Not even an hint to its maker or origen.

The weather was cold, winter was at its full, and the wind just blew threw our clothes,so ..... .

the only thing missing was is a bit of music in the background for the hunt.We felt like real hunters.

..... and the story goes on.

In our second part of our hunt we returned and reached the small an interesting village we had by passed,Madariaga and while asking several pedestrians we got the direction to a John Deer dealer shop and met the other tractor of the day.And the last one of the days hunt.

A original John Deere.Around the 1930's I have been informed and what looks like in quite good condition.

Neadless to say it was Sunday and like all our samll farm towns down south american way all was closed.

So back home we went.A day without a succes but an exciting day all the same.

So the hunting finally took us to our other hunger, and Bob prepared a late lunch in or cottage: a delicious barbecue,an "asado" as we call it here.Good Argentinian beef.

Quite a good prize for our search!
