Just happened on your mail requesting information on the Threshing Mill. My grandfather, – John Thompson Garvie, owned the factory; I still remember how the machines where made (one giant steam engine turning a shaft the ran the entire length of the building and all other machines took power off that via endless belts). When he died in the 1950’s the business was taken over by my uncle Donald Garvie who died 2? years ago.; the business was dissolved about 20 years ago. I have just started my investigations into my history and I know the factory was in existence in the last century, run by my great Grandfather Robert Glegg Garvie. My aunt Mrs Leckie is still alive and lives in Aberdeen. I have heard there still are some working Garvie threshing machines in Ireland. The original color was a shocking pink (probably good advertising); I would much appreciate a photo of the machine by e-mail or ordinary post if you have one.

I live in the US at present but am in the UK 2-3 times a year. Pleae contract me directly if you need more info.

Good morning,
I am trying to find an instruction manual or some history regarding the RGH Garvie & sons threshing machine which was built in 1948. The reason for this is my friend has one which his grandfather used many years ago, My friend has do it up and it is in working order but he is finding it hard to set the wrapping/band,it keeps kicking the straw out and not tying it so I was hoping you could help or have any instructions. Please advice thanks Charlie
