Would anyone out there be able to tell me the difference between the MF 35 and the MF 35x.The reason being that I have bought a 35 for restoration and I have no markings on it to tell which it is.

My 35 is a 1964 FE35 and it appears to have all the previously mentioned features. Six speed (3+high/low range). PTO with three positions including ground speed, Perkins 3cyl diesel, differential lock, and I can change gears on the move. So, is mine a deluxe? Thanks, C. T.

the difference between the both is that ther is a differential lock on the 35x. the 35 and 35x have the same clutches (unless the tractor is really old!).I have seen many 35x s that have no multi power that was an option when buying but proved troubelsome. the diff pedal is located at the right trumpet housing (if sitting on).hope this helps.

I own a 35 deluxe and recently purchased a 1963 parts book and a 1963 owners manual for the MF 35 Special and Mf 35 Deluxe.. Both books talk about the difference between a 35 special and a 35 deluxe but neither makes no mention of a 35 X. I have heard about the locking differentials and maybe this is the X series. In the owners manual the list of accessories available for the two 35's does not mention locking differentials, so there are probably all types of goodies yet to be heard of.

I have an MF-35 Turf Special which is indicated on a plate on the lower part of dash. I found when I ordered parts for steering that they would keep sending me parts too small until I told the service man and he remembered my tractor parts were larger(heavy duty) never found out why.

I am far from an expert but believe a 35 Deluxe has a ground speed power take off position and a Super Deluxe has in addition a locking differential lever. I am sure there are other changes which I am unaware. My Deluxe has six speeds and a three position power take off. If you can call OFF a position.

I'm guessing that there were three versions, Standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe.

A 35X has mulitpower, which means you can change gear on the move. There is a small slide lever under steering wheel, 35`s have this part blanked off. 35x also has a PerkinsA3-152 engine.
