I was wondering what the actual working
max lift of the two way MH hydraulic cylinder
is. I'm not talking about pressure at the lines.

I'm building a scoop for my 3PH and will need
to figure out the max arm length .vs. weight ratio.

Thanks. Blue

ACTUAL SYSTEM PRESSURE , IN A M-H 33 IS 1700-1900 PSI. YOU DIDN'T SPECIFY MODEL.

Thanks TAZ,

It's a MH30 with standard gear operated hydr
pump. I didn't mention model because I thought that
the 2 way cylinder was a standard add on for all models. I was told by an old timer at the MF dealer
that the pressure at the lines was like you say
around 1500. But the ram pressure has to be greater. Thanks again, Blue

Hi Blue -

Force available from the cylinder on the extend stroke will be the area of the piston times available system pressure, neglecting friction. Retract force will be less, because the area of the piston is reduced by the area of the piston rod.

At 1500 psi, a 2" cyl will push about 4700 lb; a 2 1/2", about 7300 lb, and a 3", about 10,500 lb - if my math is correct this early in the morning!
