I am looking at a Massey Ferguson Super 90. All in all it looks like a good tractor, and I am familiar with the usual strengths and weaknesses of most Massey's. Basically what I am looking for is a general opinion from those that have owned or own one of these beasts. Were you happy with it, or do you feel that own should stay away from it? I appreciate your responses in advance, as this will be my first large capital purchase. I am calling it a graduation present to myself. Thanks,
Ben Huyge

Hi guys I've read both your posts. Back quite a while, a post stated that the MF 85,90,and 95 were actually made by MM for MF. You may find some info. at:

Actually, the 95 & 97 were made by MM. The 85, 88 & 90 were made by MF. These three tractors were all very similar. They were very strong tractors, lots of power for the size. The hydraulics were the main weak point. If you do not know a lot about fixing tractors, your best bet would be to stay away from these, unless you don't mind paying someone else. If you don't mind a little less HP, the MF 65 is a nice little tractor & parts are readily available for it.

PS I own a MF 85 myself. I really like it, but I have had to do a lot of hydraulic work on it. I only spent around $200 out of pocket for some used pumps that I rebuilt, but I have around 100 hours of labor in it over the last few years.
