Just purchased what I thought was a MF 2135 but I am now wondering whether it might be a MF 20 Industrial. It has a 3 cyl Perkins gas engine and the 2135 only came in 4 cyl. There are markings for both the 135 and the MF 20 on the tractor. Anyone familiar with the differences between the two models?

What is the serial number? With the 3 cyl gas perkins engine the tractor serial number should start with 9A_____ . Does the tractor have a plantary different? There were 2135's that were the same tractor as the 135 Orchard Tractor. The 2135's were painted yellow, the 135 Orchard Tractor was red and gray. My father purchased a new 135 Orchard in 1974 that was red and gray. Last year I purchased a 135 Orchard that was orginally painted yellow but someone during the years repainted the tractor red and gray. What so amazing about the two tractors is that they are identical except the paint and the serial numbers. There were only 6 tractors made between the two tractors and they could have been a 150,165,or a 175 because they share the 9A perfix number. The two tractors were sold by 2 seperate dealers over 300 miles apart. I have been told that the two tractors were made back to back. Another way to tell the difference is by the steering. The 135 Orchard will have 2 steering cylinders, (one each side of the front axle), at the wheel where as the 135 will have the steering cylinder build into the steering housing that also serves as the top of the transmission. You can also measure the lift arms on the 3 point hitch. The regular 135's will be 34" from the center to center of each ball where as the Orchard 135 will be 38". Of the few MF 20's that I have seen, they had the regular shoe type brake system where as the 135 orchard had disc brakes. Hope this might help!
