Hello and I need help -- Recently I was running my bushhog behind my MF 65 diesel on the side of a hill and picked up a locus needle in a tire.I stopped to pull the needle out and started back to my grass cutting. At this point I no longer had enough hydraulics to properly raise the bushhog and also had no torque from the engine pto.I have since changed all my trans/hydraulic oil ,purged the pump and all hydraulic hook-ups of contaminated fluid , cleaned hydraulic filter , inspected the engagement of the engine pto drive gear , and adjusted the clutch pedal free play. At this time my 3pt will only lift my bushhog if I raise it very slowly (once the bushhog is up and tractor turned off it holds it's position--no leak down ) , my hydraulics will not raise a 9ft disc from the remotes , and the engine pto won't turn a bushhog (the shaft turns independently) but the ground pto works fine . So , as my grass grows and my garden is not planted , what is wrong and how many problems do I have ?

had basically the same problem here, it was the pto clutch. yeah the adjustment is for disengaging the pto clutch. plan on redoing your clutches from the sound of it. and dont scrimp, do it right, labor cost is the same the second time around

Hello Brian -

Sounds very much like the PTO clutch disk has failed. There is a PTO clutch adjustment in the hole under the bell housing, but that usually opens up, causing the PTO clutch to not release with the pedal down.

More questions? ask!

Thanks for the info. , when I checked into adjusting the clutch disc I found many shavings from the disc lining saturated with oil . I have since purchased a clutch assy. and rear crankshaft seal . Thanks again !
