Cut about 20 ac. of timothy, with the idea of renting a round baler to pick it up. The only one available is a New Idea, that needs 4 hydraulic connections, two for the ejector, two to tie. I've got a bunch of fittings around from an old loader. Is there any way to rig this up? Will the hydraulic pump handle it? It's a sandwich type pump.
Thanks in advance. Shoulda thought this bright idea through a little more before I hooked up the mower...

Ok, rigged up a dual hydraulic control using a pressure line tapped into the 3 pt feed, and return line into the hydraulic top cover.
To get pressure to the aux controls, I se the 3 pt lever to high lift. The problem I have is that when pressure is applied to the aux baler, the 3 pt hitch starts to rise. Is there any way to take the lift cylinder out of the loop?

I had the same problem with a MF165. A simple solution was to raise the lift arms with the hydraulics and then fasten them so that they would stay up. This keeps the lift cyl. full of oil and the aux. seems to work just fine. Hope this works for you. rick

There is an aftermarket kit for about $200 that mounts on the lift cover, has a selector valve and one hose outlet for remote operation. The selector valve I believe does what you want to do. Then you just use the lift control lever to pressure the remote only. I think Sweet tractors in KY has it.

I'm new at this. Any update configuration and operation success? My MF 65 hyd flow seems to be dropping off to nothing, can't operate front loader... Will be looking to download a manual to determine cause & repair. Any suggestions? Also loss of engine power this season, looking to tune up plugs wires, distrib cap, carb kit. Any other suggestions for better performance. Won't pull 12' disc this year.

Well, since the board was down for a few days, I had to go it alone. Rick, I pretty much did what you suggested, just left the arms up and the pump seemed to do the job just fine. Used a JD 447 round baler, the 65 had more than enough power to do the job. Overheated once due to a bad radiator cap seal, but otherwise was great. I need to figure out a good solution for the hyd controls. Used the valves from an old loader, two one spool, one single action and one double action. A two or three spool with two double action would be great, but kinda spendy. Baler required two double action, so I had to keep swapping the hoses whenever I tied a bale up. Real pain, but got the job done.
Roy, your pump should be producing around 2500 lbs pressure. I'd find a guage and check it out. Also, do a compression test on your motor when you tune it. Sounds like it might be getting tired. Any idea how many hours on it?
