My Father-in-law has a MF FE-35 with a problem...
It runs for about 15 min then shuts off (sometimes
after revving on it's own). This happened in the
next tank after he ran it out of fuel. It acts
like it's starving and the filter's plugged but we
put a new filter on it. He says he bled it
correctly but who knows? (not me) ANY help or
info on this unit would be appreciated. It's s/n
is not tracable thru normal means or this web
site... (264574). Normally I'm pretty good at
this stuff but diesel is beyond my knowledge)
One more question... does this tractor have that
little screen in the tank above the shutoff?
Could that be our problem? How do you check it?
Thanks in advance - ALAN

Try blowing backwards through the tank shutoff valve (compressed air, not mouth). There might be some sediment in the valve. Then bleed thoroughly and you should be in business.

The screen is attached to the fuel tap on my MF135. If you are still having problems drain the tank and remove the fuel tap and clean. My first MF135 was destroyed in a fire in 1997. Purchased another MF135 and used my old tank as the replacement machines was rusty. Took me ages to get the burnt carbon out of it.

Thanks to all... We took the shut off valve out and drained the tank. Then we blew out the lines from the bowl all the way back to the shut off valve. We got a big slimy chunk of unknown origin out of the valve. Put in new fuel and ran it for about 2 hrs. Seems to have fixed it... oh, yeah, someone had already taken out the screen in the tank. Must not be the 1st time it's done this. Thanks again - ALAN
