I have seen the same tractor sitting at a monthly auction here in ohio since november or december. the tractor has been repainted andlooks clean. to me it looks like a fair sized tractor and at this auction the larger ones go first. was there something about this tractor people didnt like? the only rhing i dont like is not having a frame.

AJZ, as you can see below mine is sick. i like the tractor, has one of the best cabs i've seen. great for the kids, dogs, whole family. tractor is bulky for its hp. wiper blade is $26.00. i have trouble getting parts that i think should be easy to get. paid $6500 in what i would consider good shape with some engine smoke. buying up a lot of equipment aren't we?

If I remember correctly, the 1085 and the 285, both used a 312 Perkins engine, and they used to have head gasket problems. I dont know if a solution was ever arrived at or not. Maybe someone that knows more about it will comment.

1085 has a Perkins 318. Head gaskets are a problem, but still a good tractor. What I need is an exhaust manifold. Any idea where I could find one?

They had problems with the head studs, I believe they were studs and they recommended to replace them so I did. We had two 1085 and never any head gasket trouble.
