We bought a 4880 last spring (325) horsepower.
It is not as comfortable as the new tractors nowadays but it is not a bad tractor to drive. Lots of power to pull 40ft of air drill.
I dont know too much about the drive train. I was wondering if there was a page by page service manual posted on the net somewhere showing the details of this model of tractor?

If I were you I would stay away from this tractor unless you find out conclusively that snap ring at the front of the input shaft in the transmission and also one of the snap rings on the second from the bottom shaft in the transmission have been replaced with the updated parts. When these snap rings fail, thousands of dollars of damage can occur-repaired several myself when working for a Massey dealer in the early eighties. Special tools are also required and the parts may be hard to find. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

I have a 4880 with 6000 hr on it, its been a great tractor so far. I've rebuilt the final drives in the rearend a couple of years ago. This spring the intermentian power shift started to shake the tractor under load like it was sliping. The mechenic said the pressure was low and fluctuated quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone might Know the cause of this and a ballpark figure to fix it?
