I drained my hydraulic oil on the tractor and replaced it with 8 gallons of 80W90 oil. When I started the tractor and engaged the hydraulic lift, it went straight to the highest raised position and won't budge. Is it "air locked"? Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Also, my old oil was light yellow and my lift was operating poorly. That's why I changed the oil. I'm sure it had water in it and was also air-entrained. Got any suggestions on how to drain it and flush all of the contaminated oil from the system? Thanks for your help!

My manual says:

Use SAE40 single grade straight mineral oil with no additives at all. (not gear oil, and not hydraulic fluid!)

The transmission holds 30 litres.

Check the type of oil required as I think 80/90
may be to high. Use a straight oil with as few additives as possible. Anti friction you beaut
additives can make the hydraulics misbehave.
Hydraulic oil was once described to me as a staight base oil with anti wear properties added.

The oil to use is MF Permatran III, or Shell Donax TD. It's the same thing.
