I have a 3165 which has a few problems I would like to sort out if I am to keep the tractor. First, the power steering has no power unless you lift the front wheels wheels off the ground with the loader. When you carry a load, forget about steering. I topped up the fluid, which helped while the tractor is moving, but still under load it is terrible. Today, a pin near the power steering cylinder broke, so I have no steering at all. Second, the engine leaks oil while it is running only, it drips off the front of the oil pan. Third, I would like to put a PTO on it if it is not too big a job. The tractor has a heated cab, the engine runs great, it is a workhorse so I would like to keep but if I can't steer when I do loader work it defeats the purpose of having it.

Any advice from experts or anyone with a similar tractor is greatly appreciated

Thank you,

Bill

: Bill Is the steering wheel hard to turn? If so first check the thrust brgs. on the front spindles,if they are all busted up it can make the steering hard. You can check them by looking at the top of the spindle where the arm fastens on the spindle, if you have over about 1/4" clearance under the arm the brg will most likely be bad. Most likely you have a bad power steering pump, if you or some one you know has apressure gauge check the press. on the pump it should have around 1,100 p.s.i of pressure.
