I want to fit an alternator to my mf 135 currently fitted with a dynamo Does anyone know whether I can plug the wires straight in? or will i have to bypass the regulator box? if this is the case then for wiring sake should i just assume that the regulator is bolted on to the alternator leaving me with one wire to the battery, but there are a number of connectors on the alternator, what should these do and how should i hook up the ammeter.
To confuse matters further i have two alternators, one has a black box attached with numerous connectors while the other is plain with two connectors which i assume is non self regulating, would this be a better bet for replacing the dynamo. Thanks

Did this myself several years ago. Internal regulated alternator "Lucas" I think. Main hassle was altering the ignition switch to turn off power to alternater when engine is not running
otherwise your battery goes flat.
