Can't help you with the source for a carb kit but there is a very good article in the archives on rebuilding tractor carbs, very nicely sequenced and great pictures, etc. One thing that the article does is remove the brass from the castings as if it comes out like the carb was put together yesterday. Unfortunately, this is never the case. The parts you've really got to watch are the little brass jets that have a slot head screwdriver spot in them, and also the main fuel nozzle (usually a hex head removal) and lastly the brass seat for the needle valve. Whatever you do, don't try to get them out without heating the casting (assuming it is cast iron) with a propane (not an acetylene) torch. You can also cook the casting in a hot barbeque (as long as your wife doesn't know) for a half hour or so. Make sure that you've got the proper sized removal tools. Usually, I avoid taking out the brass unless I am 100% convinced it has to come out (even though it means some new parts remain unused from the kit). Use a good, professional type carb soaking compound and then a lot of compressed air to blow out lines etc.
