I recently purchased 20 acres near a state forest. About 1/4 has been mowed the last few years and about 1/4 needs bush hogged. Rest is in trees. I found a MF 165 Gas for about $4000.
My question is: A: Good Price ??? B: Any glaring problems with 165's. C: Are turf tires an option for 165, I want to buy a 11-15 ft batwing finish mower to use on the mowing part of the property.

Any comments or suggestions on what to check on this tractor would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

$4,000 might be a bit high, but not much. They're great tractors.

I wouldn't go over an 11' mower, as I think you'd have trouble running a bigger one.

You can get turf tires for them, but they aren't cheap. And it limits you traction, which can be a problem in mud or snow. I wouldn't use them unless you just absolutely had to.

If the MF165 is in decent condition, I'd say it's a fair price, especially if the tires are in decent shape. It's one heckuva nice tractor. You can put any type of tire on it you want. Check your local tire place, and see what's available. If the bar tires you have on now are in poor shape, just leave them on. Tires aren't cheap..
