Can someone tell me what the part is in the attached picture? It is coming off the bottom of my carb on my 1969 MF135 with a perkins gas motor. When I unscrew it from the bottom of the carb, the other end has a needle coming out of it and the tip of it appears to be broken. I have a feeling it has something to do with adjusting the main jet. My tractor currently is running rough at high idle unless I have the choke on. I am having trouble finding this part or anything that looks like it. Any thoughts?

It used to be a fuel shutoff solenoid that closed off the main jet at shutdown to prevent "dieseling" and "muffler backfire".

Likely, it failed sometime in the past and a PO cut the electrical wire off of it, and cut the tip off so it was no longer plugging the main jet and the engine would run.

Is there replacements available? I was hoping this was causing my motor to die when I turn the throttle to max RPMS.

Replacements, if your specific solenoid is still available are quite costly. (I would GUESS between $100 and $200, typically.)

You could try McDonald Carburetion (GOOGLE it) or your Massey/Agco dealer.

That being said, if enough has been cut off of the needle on the old solenoid so it's away from the main jet, it's not the cause of "dying" when you rev it up, as the main jet will be wide open and flowing all the gas it can.

Could be dirt in the "load" circuit of the carburetor, restricted flow of gas somewhere between the tank and float bowl, or even a stuck ignition timing advance.

Also, for some applications, an adjustable "load" needle assemble can be used to replace the solenoid, which would probably include a bigger main jet.

The carb shop I mentioned previously may have some ideas about that, or you could search the 'net for more info on doing that.
