I visited my neighbor today to check out his tractor...he's had it since the 50's. Thought it was an N series Ford. Nope. He said it was a 1931 9N. I saw #1243 etched on a thin metal plate just above the steering column on the dash. I tried to tell him that 9Ns started in '39, but he kept insisting it was a '31 9N. He has a case backhoe on it, and a 4' blade on the front run with a hydraulic pump mounted on the front. He has a big ol' hunking resoivor on the side of the engine. Some time back he broke the tractor in two while bumping around backhoe-ing. It turns out the backhoe was mounted on the center of the tractor with brackets. He was bouncing it around and the thing just cracked in two. He ended up welding it together and making some kind of 5" tubular box frame underneath it. He also has broken the rear axles several times and has repaired them each time...apparently, he has shortened the lengnth as well. It's been sitting for some years, and he said it would run. With all those attachments, I have to say it's pretty ugly, to say the least, but very interesting. I have an 8N, and really have no idea what his tractor might be worth. I'm pretty much ignorant on pre-N stuff. Any thoughts on what this might be worth and it's value overall? thanks,
