Help!! I'm trying to figure what's not working on my MF 35. The battery is not getting charged. How does the charging system work? (Is there a schematic somwhere that I can download?)I can't remember how to test the generator or voltage regulator. All of the other guages work fine. The ampmeter never shows a charge, but will show a discharge when the starter is engaged. I've checked the wiring and can't find any loose connections, etc.

well bert I am here in canada on holiday from Ireland. I have seen these problems for years, the best thing you can do is take out the dinamo and inspect the brushes you may hafto open it. if they are wore or broken replace them. When I seen this problem I gave people the option to replace the brushes or put in an alternator which I prefer
If you want to put an alternator in get one out of a ford escort or ford fiesta, then you will hafto put a charging lite in.
Good luck and I hope this will help you let me know how you get on.
