I found a MF35 with multi power. Tractor has been restored. Saw a post advising against purchasing tractor with multi power as it gives trouble and is expensive to fix. Would appreciate any further comment on this issue.

Thanks.

The MP is ok and will give years of service with no problum IF!! you keep the hyd oil changed right> All the clutch pack parts are still adv. The guy talking about the Super 90 was not right on the parts for the 35. The super 90 uses the same disc and maybe the same plates but the housing that he was talking about are diff. P T O clutch packs use more disc and plate than the MP. The only thing that you mighht have trobule getting is thhe MP pump, they got to where you could not get the one like came in tractor. but could get later modle MF tractor MP pump and put it in> Fireball

I have never had to work on the multipower clutch but it is the same as the hydraulic clutch used in the Super-90 for the PTO and I have repaired that. The problem is that you cann't buy all the parts anymore. You may still be able to buy the clutch plates but the housing parts are not available and that is what you have to repair. I don't have the manual in front of me but from memory there are holes through the housing for 3 pins. These holes
get elongated and the pins break. I repaired the holes by welding them shut and locating 3 new holes offset from the old ones. This is best done on
a milling machine but with care I was able to do this on a drillpress. If the pins are not available from a dealer they should be available from an industrial supply. They were 1/4" diameter, I believe but don't know the length.

I know that the way we used the Multipower on our farm was not the way it was ment to be used and would cause it to wear out. It is not ment to be shifted every few minutes. Otherwise, I like the Multipower and will probably restore one in the future.
