Anyone know how the tractors differ? Do they have the same chassis with different engines or are they more different than just that?

Hi Mike

According to Keith Oltrogges Massey Data Book, not too much difference except the engine. All the same chassis, but the 201 had the Chrysler 242 cu.in. engine. The 202, of which 223 were produced, had the Continental 290 cu. in. The 203 was introduced in 1940 with a larger 330 cu.in Continental distallate. This was the distillate version of the 201, 202, but in 1944, the 203 came out with a gas version, and became the primary model. The early 203's had a cast grill, and the later were stamped.....

This is all out of the book, so if it's wrong, don't blame me....Dave

I am pretty sure that the 201 202 203 55 & 555 all used the same chassis. The 1940 201 used a 241 CID chrysler engine & had a cast iron grill. In 1941 MH installed the 251 chrysler gas engine. Also in 1941 MH brought out the 202. This was the same tractor but it had a m290 cid contintenal low grade fuel engine. During 1942 the grill was changed to sheet metal. I think that both the201&202 were built until 1944. when the 203 was brought out. It had the m330 cid contintenal engine. This engine could be had with three different compression ratios. Hi for over 80 octane gas. Medium for under 80 octane gas & kerosene. Low for distillate fuel. This modle was dropped in 1947 when the 55 come out.

Gary, that was the Massey Harris 201, 202, and 203 I was wondering about. I noticed you responded with the Massey Ferguson models which I'm not familiar with but seem to have some of the same numbers.

Alberta Mike, according to the 1941 I & T RedBook, the 201 distillate had a Continental 6 cyl, 4" x 4-3/8" engine

the 202 had a Continental 6 cyl, 3 3/4" x 4-3/8" engine

In the 1942 I & T Red Book the 203 Distillate had a Continental 6 cyl 4" x 4-3/8" engine

All three tractors had the same plow rating: 4 to 5-14", which as someone above said, would put them in the "55" class

The MHF tractor that I have any info on is the 202 it also is called a "Workbull" and appears to have been a predecessor to the MF model. I don't know if it's the same for the 203, 204, 205,
