I just bought a mh 44 with a 6 cylinder continental engine can someone give me info about it. Are they rare, how much power, how do they do at tractor pulls?

Not the excitement of a "pull-to-the-death" 44 RC
Diesel, which makes other colors uncomfortable.
However, you have a 39 HP tractor, the quietest
and easiest steering. For Massey-Harris, a fair
puller, less lugging(torque) than the 4 cylinder
44's.Made from 47-52, not rare, but a great handling tractor, as was legendary of the truly
'correct red'. Good luck.

I didn't think the 44-6 was ever tested at Nebraska. Or is the 39 hp what you get when putting it on a modern dyno? I have the same engine in my 101 Senior, and never could find info for it. I would imagine it would be about the same, then, right?

Dave, You are correct. The 44-6, w/F226 engine
was put to test, but in 1947,results may not have been certified as 'offical', thus absent.
Buyers could see spec sheets to decide on the
6 or 4 cylinder models. The 44-6GR tested, had a Zenith carburetor. Going back to Seniors, the supplier of carburetors varies, w/M-S
involved. These were less efficient,lowering
about 2 horsepower. A smooth running engine.

Michael, thanx for the info. A guy told me my Senior was a 3 plow tractor, and had about the same Hp as a Farmall M. I guess that info was correct. I've got the Marvel-Schebler TRX carb on mine, I had it rebuilt, and rebuilt the engine. It's the quietest tractor I have ever heard.... really a smoothy.

Dave, You are quite welcome. The Guy saying "same"
on horsepower was mistaken. The field test on
performance of an F226, was a set of 12' spring tooth harrows. A 44-6, at 39 HP, could pull them
in forth gear. The M,at 33.75 HP, had to remain
in third, thus the birth of M&W Gear, and the
Powerpack piston kit. If you have the Nelson
muffler on your M-H, at a slow idle, 100 feet
away, you guess if it's still running. Quiet,
indeed!

I talked to an old Massey Harris dealer and he told me it was 46 hp tractor. Do you think it was possible that it is the correct hp. Also do you think it will outpull a wd45 diesel allis.
