I live in Sweden and I have a MF35 british built. I am adding a backhoe to the 3p hitch and also thinking of adding a separate hydraulic pump to the PTO.
I have a pump weighting about 40 pounds. Can I hang this pump directly on the PTO or will I need a linkage?

I put a hydraulic pump directly on the PTO of my MF 50. I put two steel braces that bolt to the top of the pump at one end and to the bolts above it where the 3 point linkage fixes to the tractor. This supports the pump. At the bottom I put small chains with clevises that bolt on the pump at one end and the bolts for the PTO guard at the other. (The guard of course no longer fits with the pump added so I used just the bolts.)This keeps the pump from twisting.

You probably could hang it right on the shaft but will certainly have to keep it from twisting somehow. I feel better with the additional support as the pump kicks pretty hard and there is significant vibration. Hope this helps.
