Have a 275 coming up at a silent auction and would like to get it, but at a fair price. Has a loader, model unknown. Clean and deisel starts right up and sounds good. fair rubber. 3 point. 4 hyd on rear all used for the loader. Was told it would be a 75 horsepower tractor. What is the horsepower? What is the reputation of this tractor for cost of operation and maintenance? Read about steering problems and expense on a 285, is that on the 275 also? What would be a fair price? They thought it was a 1979 model.
I will use it on a small farm for dirt moving, and 3 point implements and bushhog. (Oh yes, the tires are fluid filled). sorry for the long post and thanks for reply. Bob

If you were reading previouse posts in the archives, that was me with the steering problems. They wore out due to extremely heavy working conditions with exesive weight, and overall hard labor. I put 4500 hours on it as my main tractor, using it for everything from plowing to planting, and chopping corn, before buying something else to use for heavy labor. This tractor probably had more than normal wear on all the steering components, and have replaced everything exept the inside tie-rod ends. With a loader on the front I would be a little leary, so just do an overall inspection of the steering. I have a 165 that used to have a loader on it, and that really wore out the steering components and now it is rather sloppy, but it just needs a few bushings the dealer said and then it should be fine.
Good luck,
Don

P.S.-If everything checks out OK, I'd bid up to maybe $5,000 if it's in exellent condition. $2,500 if it's rough and the rims are rusted. It has about 67 hp

I tried to buy a 275 with a cab and loader from a municpality a few years back. They were asking $11,000 Canadian and got $10,000. Do a search on price 165. And take it from there relizing the 275 is a little more hp and newer.

Thanks Don; It was your previous post about the 285 and steering. This unit was used to load snow into dumps from a school yard. A few years back they switched to a new unit and this has set for at least 2 years. The rims are showing rust around the valve stems. A maintenance tech started it and gave me the background, since they bought it used about 6 or 7 years ago. Bob

I might be a little concerned about the rust around the valve stems. Could just be a small leak from the fluid, but it is enough to raise my eyebrows.
