I have a M-F 180 gas with a continental engine. To start, the range selector must be in neutral. Recently it would only start by holding the key and moving the range selector around until it started to crank, and now it won't even do that. I assume that the interlock must be bad. Where is this located, and how do I go about fixing it? Thanks.

Looks to me like you might need a new switch.
It is located on top of the transmission housing.
The switch is available at the MF dealer (at an unreasonable price.)

the netural saftey switch is located on top of the transmission case just under the steering gear box.Usually 2 wires going to it and it screws into the case. The switch has a ball on the bottom side of it and if the ball or the shifter rail gets worn,it wont push the ball far enough for the switch to make contact and leet the starter engage. The wires may be loose as well. You can check the switch by either jumping across the terminals or by using a jumper wire to by-pass the switch altogether. Hope this helps. David
