I am the proud owner of a MF65. I am not sure of the year, but my problem is I cannot find any information on the internet pertaining to the rarity of these tractors or their history. It is a 65 "dieselmatic" with the multi-power option. It has PS and is a utility type, with the float o matic seat. If anyone has any info on these massey's please email me and let me know. Thanks

The massy 65 is a great tractor you will be very
happy with the performence of that old jewel. They are known to leak a little from the multi-power and the old fuel pump may drip, but she's not afraid to work

i dont think they are super rare but are great tractors anyone should be glad to own.my grandad had a 65 gas and 65 dieselmatic, both were row-crops with narrow fronts.never heard a bad word about either.dont forget the 65 was one of the first tractors to have differential lock.

In the area where I live the 65's were a very popular tractor and gained Massey loyal customers. They are rugged with a lot of nice feature. About as much power as you good by in that size tractor at the time. My dad plowed a lot of acreas using a 4 bottom mounted plow and farming about 250 acreas in all. Plowed and about everything else with the Massey but disced with the "M". We didn't know enough to use duals on the soft ground back then.

Alec,
If you have a look at A Word Wide Guide to Massey-Harris, Ferguson and early Massey Ferguson Tractors by John Farnworth ISBN No 09533737 6 2, at page 139-40, you'll find all the info you need. This book was published in the UK but your local library should be able to find it for you.

I have a MF 65 Dieselmatic that runs great, but routinely get stuck in gear. I hired a mechanic to get it 'un-stuck'and watched as he pried around in the crank case where you add oil, but I have tried for hours to no avail. Does any one have any answers to this problem and/or know more about this particular tractor? The left side displays "894 682 M1" the right side: "183253 M5" with an "F" under the 1 and also shows "15 GM6" upsidedown just above the previous number. "190861 M2" with an "F" under the 1 and an "X" under the 0 which is located under the seat. Any comments will be appreciated.

First, remove the rubber boot from the gear shift lever and then remove the pin from the gear shift lever and pull up on the gear shift lever. Then you can open the oil fill cap. Once removed, you should use your pry bar to adjust the gear to where it is free again. Once free, replace the shift lever, and then replace the pin. Recover with rubber boot. You should be good to go.

We had a 65 dieselmatic with the exact same issue. It has been a good many years since I had to deal with this problem but from what I remember all you had to do is take the transmission oil fill cap off and insert a pry bar. If you look down into the whole there is a gear right there. If I remember correctly you need to push the gear to the front of the tractor. Ours did this about 2 times a year and it got to the point that we were never without that pry bar and a wrench! Hope this helps you with your problem.
