Could you all please tell me what you think of the 2805. I have heard horror stories of them. People say they were to expensive to fix and broke many farmers who owned them.

I heard of having lots of problems with the 24 Speeds or 3 Spd multipower. We bought one that was burned up and switched the dash off of our pulling 2805 and all the other stuff that was burned. Yes, these tractors are expensive to fix. An overhaul kit for the engine for parts alone will set you back about $7,500. The 640 perkins is a good reliable engine. I would buy an 8 spd instead of the 24 although the 3 spd powershift is nice. I like ours with the multipower and runs decent. The multipower was supposedly the weakest part of the tractor. Another problem is the heat from the exhaust that causes them to burn. All the hydraulic lines run within 6 inches of the turbo behind a heat shield and about 8 inches above the turbo. You have to be absolutely shur that no oil or fuel leaks in the V of the engine. The result will be a fire from the fuel or oil running back the Vee towards the hot exhaust that turns a red glow at night. We bought a 4 wheel drive unit at a sale for $800 and put on it. This makes the tractor awesome. Were guessing it weighs around 23,000Lbs with all the weight that is on it. We have 2,600 on the nose alone and about 3,000 on the rear plua the weight of the duals. I broke our 11 shank chisel plow because I could pull it anywhere I wanted to sunk in all the way going up even the steepest hill.
The 2805 should be a good tractor without the 24 spd.

I bought a 1980 2805 8 speed in 1990 with loaded 20.8 axle duals. Paid $6000 for it. Had around 3000 hrs on it. It had relentless drawbar and pto hp. Caught on fire while plowing in spring of 1994 and was totaled. Did not have much trouble the four years I used it. Wish I still had one, it was dream to drive.
