I was changing the oil filter and a spring popped out of the canister. I did not see where it was originally located.
Anybody know where it goes?
I can't find a reference to this spring in my manual.
Also the manual calls for 8 quarts of oil, I have put in 9 and the oil is barely touching the dipstick. Is this typical for this model?
Thanks in advance,
Bud Estis

The spring would go in the canister first, then a washer/seal, then the filter. The 318 Perkins can be converted to a spin on type oil filter. An MF dealer should be able to supply the kit.
