MH30, Plowing in second gear, any problems?

I was wondering if it is ok to plow in second gear instead of first because the first gear is worn and it pops out occasionaly.

There is about 0.9 mile an hour increase in second and the tractor is made to pull a three bottom but I use a wheeled two bottom (#26 plow).

See any problems with this?

Thanks.

Whats the matter with 3rd? If it isn't tough clay going up hill I would want my 44 matched with a good 3 bottom plow and tuned to it in third gear. I don't have any rocks.

Hey Blue! The only problem with plowing that fast is the price of points vs your reaction time. If you lock onto something it's nice to have that extra split second. Now that's based on the fact that here in PA we have rocks... I'm sure that you don't have any of any size... If you get a chance, e-mail me next week... may have a line on that gear if you're game to change it. - Happy plowing - ALAN PS, keep an eye out for spare rims for that plow for me - Dad has a 27 that's missing the bottom 1/3 of one rim. Thanks!
