Hi I have a 35 massy with the multi power and it has been took out and the tractor runs fine but in 3rd low is a little fast and in high range you better hang on I am in search of a 135 not sure if a diesel or gas would be best some say the 3 cyl is great on gas and some say diesel is better to make things worse i found a 3 cyl 35 fergson I know for sure i don't wont a fergson that had multi power again I read that the 35 diesel was a scottish tractor is this one to stay clear of I have been around tractors for a while but not into the 35 gas and 35 diesel looks like a 135 gas or diesel is going to be my rout.
Looking for a little info on this matter most dealers wont 5500 for a 135 is this a good price

It is better it get a diesel tractor for a number of reasons:
1. Diesels use less fuel than petrol engines
2. Diesel engines last longer than the petrol equivalent
3. There is less to go wrong on the diesel (but when it does go wrong it usually costs more to fix).

The three cylinder in the MF35 is a perkins and are good engines from what I have seen. The MF135 is a newer tractor compared to the MF35 though and is also powered by a perkins diesel (if the diesel version).

Personally I would purchase a diesel, and condition and price would dictate if a got the MF35 or 135.

Also i might add that my grandfather had another 165,ford 860,and a massey ferguson135 3 CYL.I have to say that the 135 3 cylinder has nothing special about it.I mean it would pull handle a 3pt.hay rake and flatbed wagons with 150 bales on them,but....it just sputtered quite often and sometimes would stall.does anyone know if the 3 cylinder is just a bad engine in the 135 or is it just the one my grandpa had?I know i remember him getting frustrated with it at times.
so anyway my point as i said earlier was that id go with a mf 35 DIESEL or 135 DIESEL(if they made a 135 diesel).good luck

The MF135 is fitted with the Perkins AD3.152 motor which has direct injection giving more power. The MF35 Perkins diesel is the A3.153 motor and does not have direct injection. A3.153 motor has injectors at 90 degrees in the head while the AD3.152 they are at 80 degrees. Both motors use the same block but have different heads and pistons.

I think what was said above is correct but would add that there is also a UK model 35X which uses the same AD3.152 engine as is in the 135. It is essentially a 135 with different tinwork styling. With petrol (gas) at more than £4 per gallon in the UK and agricultural diesel at a great deal less there is no contest here on type of fuel - always diesel.
