Hope you get this as having problems with email,
know a little about them as I grew up on washington wheat farm. We didnt have playground
equipment-we played on the farm machinery. We had a 1939 model 26-38 and a 1944 model 30-38, both with 20 foot headers. They were very similar to
the Holt hillside combines, (played on one of them too). The frame was all wood finished out with 1 in tongue & groove wood similar to what
you see inside a lot of buildings built in the late 1800s. They were built in Stockton, California. According to the legend on the 1951
Harris SPH 88, the Harris Harvester Co. started in
1902. The company was no relation to Massey- Harris, and built level land combines for the central california grain and rice fields and hill-
side combines for the Pacific Northwest and be-
came part of Mathews-Harris about 1971 or 72.
By 1965 when the 908 and 1080 models came on the
market the company had relocated to Fresno, Ca.
The wood Harris combines were replaced by the
ill fated aluminum Harris in 1947 or 48. They
had a habit of buckling in the middle. These were
replaced the following season by an all steel
combine of the same basic design as the wood &
aluminum combines. tockton, Ca.
