I was thinking of getting a tractor from this guy in the UK (I live in the USA). He has renovated MF-135 tractors for approx $5,000 with an additional 1,000 dollars for for shipping. Does this sound like a good price?

It's a little more than I wanted to pay but looking around locally and on the web I can't find anyone selling something similar esp a diesel.

Any thoughts?

$5000+ $1000 shipping in US dollars is a lot of money! Especially if you cannot see and try it before you buy it! I would rather deal with some one I know or who was recommended to me. I have a neighbour who buys MF tractors running or not then rehabs them including decent paint job, rebuilt engines or good working engine rebuilt or good working lift pump and controls last one he sold for $6500 Can. or $4200 US It did not have Power Steering. He also wrecks these tractors so that is where some spare parts come from. If you look around for a while you should be able to come up with something a little closer to home.

Just my 3 cents Canadian

Are you talking $5000 USA ? With the exchange rate at the moment that makes it around 9000 aussie dollars...plus shipping !!!!! Thats kinda expensive if you ask me. There's a good mechanic near me that rebuilds 135's & sells for around $7500 aussie... thats about....well you do the math. 54 american cents to the aussie dollar. Around $4000 US.

I would say that's a fair price. I paid close to that for my 70 model 135 with 2200 hours. I keep hearing of the $4000 135's, but have priced several in this area. Most people around here are asking over $6000 for a 135 diesel with less than 2500 hours and straight sheet metal, no rust, repainted but only a fair paint job. Guess I just live in the wrong part of the country for cheap tractor prices..... ...I'd rather pay a bit more for a tractor than live out side of DIXIE!

That would be a VERY good 135 here in the NW. The average from a private seller around here would run maybe $3-4000.

Thats what I gave for my'66 diesel nearly 3yr. ago.It had 1900hr. You'll pay more for a solid tractor but have less time and money attempting to polish a turd!!Goodluck.
