I want to change from 6v to 12v. I understand Chevy
parts can be used. Will anyone please advise the best procedure from start to finish?
Thanks in advance, Greg.

YES I used a GM alternator w/built in regulator. You will need to put in a resistor to protect the points. I rewired the entire tractor using the diagram in the I-T Shop Manual. If you use the old harness sometimes the lternator will send current through the charging system even after the key is cut off and it will keep on running. An easy problem to fix with a diode at the alternator, but it can be quite surprising the first time it happens. Good luck and buy the manual, the best $20 I spent for me and my tractor.

Why not use the original Lucas parts, they are still available for 12 volts as well as the old 6 volts. At least as far as I know.
Will keep the tractor more original if you plan to take it to exhibitions.
